About this Event
The Supplyframe DesignLab is pleased to present Introduction to SLA Printing taught by Giovanni Salinas, the DesignLab’s fantastic Product Designer on Thursday, October 25, 2018 from 1:00pm - 4:00pm. This event is part of Innovate Pasadena's Connect Week.
About the Workshop
This workshop will introduce attendees to Stereolithography (SLA) 3D printing and its uses, with a special focus on prototyping for consumer products, consumer electronic hardware, and short-run manufacturing. We will discuss the advantages and challenges of this process, especially when compared to conventional 3D printing (FDM) and mass-manufacturing processes such as plastic injection.
Design considerations: SLA printing is an awesome technology but it is by no means perfect. If a part is not optimized for it, it can snap off, warp or break, even before leaving the build plate. We will learn how to minimize the risks!
We will also walk through the whole process, from idea to modeling, printing, and post-processing. And because it is as boring as it is important, costs estimation!
Additionally, you will leave the workshop with an SLA-printed part that you will be able to use for reference.
Bring: notebook, questions.
